a. Collaboration with other "therapeutic" programs

ARGO considers the collaboration and networking with other programs necessary and  has proceeded in collaboration agreements with:

1. KETHEA

KETHEA is the oldest organization against addiction in Greece. With a broad network of services and deep knowledge of the subject, it has an ideological affinity with our program.

These elements ensure organized actions that include:

a. the support of members from TC "Ithaki" who need physical detoxification, without interrupting their "therapy" by confinement in a residential structure

b. psychiatric assistance to members from KETHEA structures in Thessaloniki

c. organization of cultural, social and educational activities aiming at primary, secondary ("therapy") or tertiary (social integration) prevention

d. staff training

2. OKANA

OKANA is the official political body against addiction in Greece. With its role as an institution and responsibility for substiture structures, it a strong ally against addiction.

Our collaboration regards the support of their members by organizing and implementing psychosocial support groups -run by staff from ARGO- in order to:

a. support their motivation for a potential full abstinence

b. support the further improvement of their life choices

3. Self Help Promotion Program (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki)

The Self Help Promotion Program from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is a pioneer structure against addiction. By co-organizing cultural, social and educational activities they are a valuable ally for motivationg addicted individuals.

b. Family Therapy Network

Work with the family and significant others, that runs in parallel with the member's "therapy", is one of the most necessary ingredients to a succesful "therapeutic" plan.

ARGO, having worked for a long time with family issues with a group of workers with theoretical, practical and experiential training, has started to organize a "Family Therapy Network".

The goals of this network are:

  1. organization and implementation of educational meetings (theoretical, practical and experiential)
  2. supervision
  3. gathering of research material and its presentation to scientific events
  4. support to significant others (couples counseling, parents support groups, self help groups, family therapy
  5. Collaboration with structures from Greece or other countries.
  • Network's beneficiaries

The relatives of people who are members of the above organizations can be part of a support plan, implemented by the network's trained staff.

  • Location

The family "therapy" for parents or significant others will take place in especially designated areas of our program, that fulfill the necessary requirements.

c. "Clean Football Fields"

Football fields are one of the areas where delinquent, antisocial and addictive behaviors develop.

Many members of organized fan groups already face addiction.

We believe that refraining from use before or during a football match can lead to the decrease of violence in sports. It can also act as an emotional release for all those who participate (coaches, players, referees) and form a climate that can attract families with their children. For these reasons we contacted the football teams of our city and their organized supporters groups.

This collabotarion is now stable with the team Heracles and their oraganized supporters and it has led to the organization of an annual football match and the employment of members from our program by the team.
