The family’s role in dealing with addictive behavior is essential in every "therapeutic" setting but furthermore it becomes crucial within a non residential "therapeutic" setting. We, in ARGO, accept that the re-establishment of a relationship with the family is not a compulsory but a desirable goal of the "therapeutic" procedure.

  • Family support and counseling: for parents of children who are not yet in a therapeutic program or are about to enter our "therapeutic" program. Also for members of the program that have started their own family, especially those with little children. The sessions are individual and deal with relationship and role issues aiming at a smooth emotional development for the children.
  • Parent groups: with the parents of the members who participate in the non residential "therapeutic" community and the social re-integration unit of our program. The topics that the family groups deal with are: family relationship, limits, conflicts, emotions, couple's relationship, everyday life and the role of the family in confronting addictive behavior.
  • Family therapy sessions: In the Alternative "Therapeutic" Program for Dependent Individuals “ARGO” there is also a team of family "therapy". This team consists of 5 members of the staff with various backgrounds and tries to resolve various problems (psychopathology, family communication, addiction) that the family of the addicted individual confronts. The meetings are 1, 5 hours monthly and the theoretical background is the Milan School of family therapy.
