ARGO Alternative Therapeutic Program

“ARGO” is an alternative drug free, non residential therapeutic program for dependent individuals. It deals with any kind of dependency from illegal drugs (heroin, cocaine, cannabis, stimulants etc.) and other addictive behaviors (internet addiction, gambling, prescription medicine etc.) and it offers its servicers to adult individuals. “ARGO’ Alternative Therapeutic Program for Dependent Individuals pertains to the National Health System and especially to the Psychiatric Hospital of Thessaloniki.

  • Services are provided free of charge
  • Services are provided without any kind of discrimination, regardless of race, beliefs, creed, sex, nationality, sexual preferences, physical disabilities, political tendencies, criminal record or financial status
  • Drug free program. “ARGO” does not dispense any kind of substitutes during the therapeutic procedures. The addict is not treated as a patient, but as a person who is  encouraged to assume his/hers responsibilities, to adapt a new way of life and behavior and a new value system in order to live a life without any kind of dependency.

Therapeutic Goals of the “ARGO” Alternative Therapeutic Program for Dependent Individuals:

  • Behavioral reconstruction
  • Social skill reinforcement
  • Alternative ways of expression and communication (Corporal and non verbal communication, art therapy)
  • Psycho-biological aspect of addictive behavior (individual exercise, group exercise and corporal acquaintance groups)
  • Leisure management
  • Co-operation with the families and the significant others of the addictive individual

The philosophy of the program is based on the principals of the therapeutic community model and its theoretical evolution.
